The Archipiélago de Juan Fernández National Park and Juan Fernández Biosphere Reserve is situated 400 miles off the Chilean coast in the Pacific Ocean. The protected area includes the islands of Robinson Crusoe, Alexander Selkirk and Santa Clara as well as all of the smaller islets in the area.

Ciénaga de Zapata Biosphere Reserve, on the southern coast of Cuba, is one of the largest and most important wetlands in the Caribbean region with a marine borderline. Ciénaga de Zapata National Park is the main core area of the Biosphere Reserve and the Ramsar site that have the same name.

Banwari Trace, an Archaic pre-ceramic site in southwestern Trinidad, is the oldest archaeological site in the Caribbean and the deposit is found on the southern edge of the Oropuche Lagoon. In 1969, the Trinidad and Tobago Historical Society discovered the remains of a human skeleton at the site.
