Protected Area

The Cinturón Andino Biosphere Reserve is located at the Macizo Colombiano in the Andes of southern Colombia. It comprises three National Parks: the Cueva de los Guácharos National Park, the Puracé National Park, and the Nevado del Huila National Park.

Conguillío National Park constitutes the core area of the Araucarias Biosphere Reserve, while the Alto Biobío National Reserve constitutes the buffer zone. The protected area is characterized by extensive Araucarias and Nothofagus forests and the Llaima volcano, one of Chile's largest and most active.

Corcovado National Park, in southern Chile, features vast expanses of untouched, unexplored land, including hidden corners of the Gulf of Corcovado. The Corcovado Volcano overlooks this difficult-to-access park, habitat for various endangered species.

Nestled like a verdant jewel within the embrace of the Osa Peninsula in southwestern Costa Rica, Corcovado National Park is a living, breathing sanctuary that boasts the distinction of sheltering the largest expanse of primary forest along the American Pacific coastline. This expansive landscape hosts an extraordinary array of wildlife, with over 140 mammal species calling it home.

Cordillera del Cóndor is a mountain range in the eastern Andes that is shared by and part of the international border between Ecuador and Peru. El Cóndor National Park is located in Ecuador, bordering the Santiago-Comaina protected area of Peru.

The Cordillera del Paine, a spectacular mountain range featuring the Torres del Paine peaks, lies between the Andes and the Patagonian steppe in southern Chile. Torres del Paine National Park and Biosphere Reserve is an area of scenic beauty with glaciers, waterfalls, rivers, lakes, and lagoons.

The Cordillera Volcánica Central Biosphere Reserve, located in the Central Highlands of Costa Rica, is rich in natural resources and cultural heritage. It encompasses four national parks, two forest reserves, six protected zones, and a national monument.

Corredor Biológico Nevados de Chillán - Laguna del Laja Biosphere Reserve Is located in the northern part of Chile's Patagonia region. The biological corridor connects three core areas: Ñuble National Reserve, Laguna del Laja National Park and the Los Huemules de Niblinto National Reserve.

Ecuador, known for its breathtaking landscapes and diverse ecosystems, is home to the awe-inspiring Cotopaxi National Park, a testament to its commitment to environmental conservation. At the heart of this protected area stands the iconic Cotopaxi Volcano, the second-highest summit in Ecuador.

The Cuatro Ciénegas Biosphere Reserve is located in the Cuatrociénegas Valley of Coahuila, Mexico, and includes the Cuatrociénegas Flora and Fauna Protection Area. It is considered the most critical wetland within the Chihuahuan Desert and one of the most important in Mexico.
