The Alto Orinoco-Casiquiare Biosphere Reserve is located in the Venezuelan Amazon. Duida-Marahuaca National Park, a national protected area which includes the Duida–Marahuaca Massif, lies within the Biosphere Reserve.
The Andino Norpatagónica Biosphere Reserve is located in the provinces of Chubut, Río Negro and Neuquén. It includes five national parks and numerous protected areas. The landscape is mostly mountainous, dominated by the Andes in the west with sub-Andean plains and plateaus in the east.
The Araucarias Biosphere Reserve is situated in the southern part of the volcanic Andes chain in south-central Chile. Conguillío National Park constitutes the core area and includes the Llaima volcano, one of the largest and most active volcanoes in Chile.
The Archipiélago Juan Fernández National Park and Biosphere Reserve is situated 670 km (416 mi) from the coast of mainland Chile, in the Pacific Ocean. The protected area includes the islands of Robinson Crusoe, Alexander Selkirk, and Santa Clara as well as all of the smaller islets in the area.
The Bañados del Este Biosphere Reserve comprises a remarkable complex of ecosystems and a vast complex of coastal wetlands. Together, these form a rich habitat for an assortment of wildlife, including myriad species that are categorized as near-threatened or endangered.
One of the first protected areas to be established in Bolivia, the Beni Biosphere Reserve is located at the convergence of three biogeographical zones: the Amazon, the Chaco and the Cerrado. The reserve comprises diverse forest formations and is home to important indigenous Amazonian groups.
The Bioma Pampa-Quebradas del Norte Biosphere Reserve is located in northern Uruguay and comprises a mosaic of different ecosystems, including a primary forest with subtropical jungle, the quebradas, which represents the southernmost vestige of the Atlantic Forest environment.
The Bosawás Biosphere Reserve is located in the north of Nicaragua, next to the frontier with Honduras. Together with three neighboring protected areas of Honduras, it constitutes the largest protected area complex of tropical mountain moist forest north of the Amazon Basin.
The Bosque Fray Jorge Biosphere Reserve comprises the Bosque Fray Jorge, Talinay and Punta del Viento National Parks, situated north of Santiago. The Fray Jorge forests are green oases surrounded by semiarid lands. The reserve shelters almost all the Mediterranean species typical of Chile.
The Bosque Mbaracayú Biosphere Reserve corresponds to a hotspot of biodiversity in the continental part of the Mata Atlántica’s biologic corridor. It is a tropical humid forest ecosystem type, which includes low and medium altitude, as well as inundated Atlantic semi-deciduous forests and savannas.
