Guanacaste Conservation Area / Area de Conservación Guanacaste, World Heritage Site (Costa Rica)

This conservation area in northwestern Costa Rica contains a mosaic of diverse ecosystems from the Pacific shores to the lowland rain forests in the Caribbean basin. It is comprised of four contiguous protected areas, containing important terrestrial and marine-coastal environments and key habitats.

Talamanca Range-La Amistad Reserves / La Amistad National Park, World Heritage Site (Costa Rica, Panama)

The location of this unique transboundary site in Central America, where Quaternary glaciers have left their mark, has allowed the fauna and flora of North and South America to interbreed. Four different Indian tribes inhabit this area, which benefit from close cooperation between Costa Rica and Panama.
