Protected Area

Cabo de Hornos Biosphere Reserve is located in the South American continent's extreme south, in southern Chile. It comprises marine areas, islands, fjords, channels, forests, and moorland. The core areas are Cabo de Hornos National Park and Alberto de Agostini National Park.

Cabo de Hornos National Park is the world's southernmost national park, 12 hours by boat from Puerto Williams in the southern headland of Tierra del Fuego in southern Chile, the only place in the world where the waters of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans meet.

Cabo Orange National Park is located in Amapá state, on the coastline of northern Brazil and close to the border with French Guiana. The park is characterized by flooded grasslands, unique in the Amazon region, and by mangroves, which act as fish nurseries.

Cahuita National Park is a pristine and biodiverse protected area located in the Limón Province on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, established to protect the country's largest coral reef. Home to several indigenous communities, it is part of the La Amistad International Park UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Calilegua is the largest national park in the Argentine Northwest, covering a biologically diverse environment. It is also the largest protected area in Argentina dedicated to conserving subtropical evergreen mountain rainforests known as Southern Andean Yungas.

Campos Amazônicos National Park is located in northwestern Brazil. It stretches through the state of Amazonas, crossing into the neighboring states of Rondônia and Mato Grosso. It is part of an ecological corridor intended to contain agricultural expansion into the central Amazon.

Campos Gerais National Park is located in the south-central region of Paraná in southern Brazil. The terrain is rugged, and the area's relief comprises rocks from the Paraná Basin. It includes peculiar shapes of great scenic beauty, notably the Vila Velha sandstones and sinkholes (Furnas).

Caño Cristales is a river in Colombia's Serranía de la Macarena, known for the striking colors that occur in its waters. Serranía de la Macarena National Natural Park, one of Colombia's best-protected, is at the confluence point of the Orinoco Basin, Guiana Shield, Amazon Rainforest, and Andean ecosystems.

Nestled on the border between the Brazilian states of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, the Caparaó National Park is a testament to Brazil's rich natural heritage. Encompassing the majestic Caparaó Mountains within its boundaries, this park offers a sanctuary for diverse ecosystems, from dense montane rainforests to alpine meadows. Pico da Bandeira, the third-highest mountain in Brazil, lies at the park's heart.

Nestled along the Caribbean coast of Honduras, the Cayos Cochinos Marine Park stands as a testament to the commitment to preserve and protect the rich biodiversity of this pristine region. This protected biological reserve is a haven for marine life and various ecosystems. Comprising two main islands, Cayo Menor and Cayo Grande, along with 13 smaller cays, the Cayos Cochinos archipelago has become a beacon of conservation in the Caribbean Sea.
