Lauca National Park is situated in the northern part of Chile in the Andean Chain. The Lauca Biosphere Reserve comprises three protected areas: Lauca National Park, Las Vicuñas National Reserve and Salar de Surire Natural Monument.

Lençóis Maranhenses National Park is located in northeastern Brazil. The park includes 43 mi of coastline and an interior composed of rolling sand dunes. During the rainy season, the valleys among the dunes fill with freshwater lagoons, prevented from draining due to the impermeable rock beneath.
Llanganates National Park is a protected area of Ecuador, known for its cloud forests, páramos, lagoons and vast biodiversity. Located within the Andean páramo as well as the montane forests on the eastern flanks of the Andes, it is also famous for the "Treasure of the Llanganatis."

Los Alerces National Park is located in the Andes of northern Patagonia in Argentina. It has a western boundary which coincides with the Chilean border. Successive glaciations have molded the landscape in the region creating spectacular features such as moraines, glacial cirques and clearwater lakes.
Los Arrayanes National Park is located in the southern part of Neuquén Province, Argentina. It is situated on the Quetrihué Peninsula that penetrates Lake Nahuel Huapi and is part of the Patagonian Forest ecoregion. The park gets its name because it was created to preserve a myrtle forest.

Los Flamencos National Reserve is a nature reserve located in the Antofagasta Region of northern Chile. The reserve has a desert climate and is divided into seven sectors. Notable sectors include the vast salt flats of Salar de Atacama and Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley).
Los Roques is an archipelago off the northern coast of Venezuela with over 300 small islands, cays and sand banks that ring a central shallow lagoon. Los Roques Archipelago National Park was created to protect its marine ecosystem of coral reefs, mangroves and seagrass beds.
Machalilla National Park rests along Ecuador's Pacific coast. It incorporates beaches, fog forest, dry forest, small islands and two larger islands: Isla Salango and Isla de la Plata. Many of the large mammals in Machalilla National Park are regionally and locally endangered.
