Potosí is the example par excellence of a major silver mine of the modern era, reputed to be the world’s largest industrial complex in the 16th century. A small pre-Hispanic-period hamlet perched in the Bolivian Andes, Potosí became an "Imperial City" following the visit of Francisco de Toledo in 1572.
Banwari Trace, an Archaic pre-ceramic site in southwestern Trinidad, is the oldest archaeological site in the Caribbean and the deposit is found on the southern edge of the Oropuche Lagoon. Banwari Man is considered to be the oldest skeleton found in the Caribbean.
The Whale Sanctuary of El Vizcaino World Heritage site is located on the Pacific Coast of the central part of the Baja California Peninsula and is embedded in the much larger El Vizcaíno Biosphere Reserve, encompassing desert, mountain and coastal/marine ecosystems.

Easter Island lies at the southeasternmost point of the Polynesian Triangle in Oceania. It is most famous for its nearly 1,000 surviving monumental statues, called moai, created by the early Rapa Nui people. Rapa Nui National Park is a protected Chilean wildlife area located within Easter Island.
Viñales Valley, in far western Cuba, exhibits an outstanding karst landscape, encircled by mountains and dotted with spectacular dome-like limestone outcrops that rise nearly 1,000 ft. The valley is home to an original culture who once worked the tobacco plantations.

The Spanish system of fortifications in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is the oldest European construction in the United States and one of the oldest in the New World. These fortifications guarded the entrance to San Juan Bay and protected Spanish commerce in the Caribbean basin.
